The DRUID Summer Conference 2010 intends to explore new theoretical, empirical and methodological advances in industrial dynamics, contributing novel insights and stimulating a lively debate about how economic systems and organizations evolve. Breaking new ground, the conference will be hosted by the Imperial College Business School in the heart of London.
The conference will include an exciting programme of plenary debates where internationally leading scholars take stands on contemporary issues within the overall conference theme. Visuals of all DRUID Debates are available through the DRUID website <www.druid.dk> together with copies of the more than 1,500 papers presented at previous DRUID Conferences. The DRUID Summer Conference 2010 will bring together researchers from around the world to exchange research results and to address open issues.
Both senior and junior scholars are invited to participate and contribute to the conference with a paper. The parallel paper sessions will be organized around the following themes:
A. Improvisation, Experimentation and Creativity
B. New Ventures and Entrepreneurship
C. Open Innovation and Distributed Innovation
D. Dynamic Capabilities and Firm-level Competitiveness
E. Strategy and Organization of Innovation
F. Projects, Networks and Ecologies
G. The Organization and Management of IP System
H. Structural Change and Economic Development
I. Institutional Emergence and Change
J. The Movement of Labour and Knowledge
K. Spatial patterns of Innovation and Knowledge Creation and Diffusion
L. Systems of Innovation
M. University Patenting and Inventor Networks
O. Innovation and Institutions in Services
Track M is co-organized with APE-INV, the project on “Academic Patenting in Europe' funded by the European Science Foundation while Track C and Track O are co-organized with UK Innovation Research Centre, funded by NESTA, ESRC, BIS and TSB.
Scholars who wish to present their research at the conference must upload a full paper (in PDF) not exceeding 10.000 words through the conference website
Paper submission
www.druid.dk/summer2010 no later than February 28, 2010. Only novel and previously unpublished research is eligible for presentation. All submissions will be reviewed anonymously by at least two reviewers working independently of each other. The reviewers will consider the novelty, academic quality and the paper's relation to the theme of the conference. The decision of paper acceptance will be given before April 10, 2010. No review or comments will be offered to the author or authors to supplement the decision. Authors of accepted papers will be assigned as discussant on papers in a related session. Papers not accepted for oral presentation at the conference may be accepted for presentation in a poster session. Authors of accepted papers must pay the conference fee before April 20, 2010 or their paper will automatically be removed and will NOT be included in the conference programme for oral presentation.
Revised versions of accepted papers or posters may be uploaded until June 1, 2010. Authors may submit more than one paper but each participant will only be allowed to present one paper during the conference. Co-authored papers may be presented by any of the participating co-authors. We expect submissions to be original scholarship and the conference as a whole to provide an opportunity to take stock of the field and advance the research frontier of industrial dynamics. Submission of a paper grants permission to DRUID to include it in the conference material and to place it on the relevant websites.
DRUID Best Paper Awards
Accepted papers authored or co-authored by doctoral students only may run for the DRUID Young Scholar Paper Award while all papers accepted for the conference may run for the DRUID Best Paper Award. The DRUID Best Papers 2010 will be selected by the DRUID Scientific Advisory Committee (see below).
DRUID Doctoral Dissertation Award
Information on the DRUID Doctoral Dissertation Award is available through 'PhDs Special' in the black banner at the top of the conference website www.druid.dk/summer2010 CBS President's Award for the most imaginative idea
