The 22nd Midwest Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science Conference, April 16-17, 2011, USA

The MAICS conference started as a relatively small regional conference that traditionally accepts papers from all areas of artificial intelligence, cognitive science and computational intelligence, including computational linguistics, logic and automated reasoning, knowledge representation, learning and philosophy of mind.

Graduate students and junior faculty are especially encouraged to submit papers. The broad range of topics together with the fact that usually only a limited number papers are accepted, and plenary presentations by well known scientists, make the MAICS conference a very special event. In recent years MAICS has also attracted a significant interest from international participants.

Papers in all areas of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science are invited. Submitted papers may present significant final results or describe interesting research in progress. Participation of younger researchers and graduate students is specially encouraged.

Topics of interest

for submission include, but are not limited to:

Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Science, Neural Networks, Computational Intelligence, Intelligent Systems, Natural Language Processing & Understanding, Computational Linguistics, Logic and Reasoning, Evolutionary Computation, Machine Learning, Computational Theories of Learning, Web Intelligence Applications, Decision Support Systems, Data Mining & Visualization, Knowledge Representation & Management.

Special Session Proposals

We also invite special session proposals. Please submit the proposal via E-mail to the Program Chair in time. Each proposal should consist of:

  1. Title
  2. Description and/or CFP
  3. Information of the organizer(s) including their affiliations, countries and E-mail addresses
  4. A list of (possible) papers ((tentative) titles, authors, their affiliations/countries)

Approved proposals will appear on the conference web site for further promotion of paper submissions. The organizer(s) will be responsible for paper reviews. However, the Program Committee will be happy to consider sharing the paper reviews upon request. The organizer(s) are expected to strictly follow deadlines of paper submissions, notifications and camera-ready set forth by the chairs.

Each special session should consist of at least three papers. The session may be canceled if less than three papers. In case of cancellation, those papers will be considered as regular papers.

There may be some benefit of organizing quality special sessions, e.g. registration discounts and special recognition
